Q1. What have been your greatest successes (physically, mentally or emotionally) since you began? How does your body feel now compared to when you started and WHY?
I have had a lot of success since I started at Crossfit DNR. I think the entire process is a success. I have lost over 20lbs (and gained some in muscle) and I have surprised myself with my strength and endurance. The personal records (PRs) and weight loss are great, but I think my biggest success has been finding a self confidence that I never had. My body feels stronger and more capable, but also really sore!
Q2. How has your life changed since starting CrossFit training? Has CrossFit transferred over into any other areas of your life?
My life has gotten so much better since starting Crossfit Training. I have found something I am truly passionate about and I love it. Crossfit has transferred into all aspects of my life, because it has taught me to never say “I can’t” and that I can do a lot of things that I never thought were possible. It has taught me to never give up or settle. I feel (and look) better and best of all I have an amazing Crossfit family now.
Q3. What are the advantages of CrossFit style training compared to your previous workout styles?
For me the advantage of Crossfit is that I want to do it. I wake up every morning excited to go work out. I have never been athletic my entire life and I have always been over weight and unmotivated. I could never motivate myself alone at a gym, so having something that I want to excel at is important.
Q4. What advice can you give to others?
My advice: Trust me… If I can do this, you can. Being “too fat” or “too old” or even too young are not good enough excuses. I am the youngest and probably one of the heaviest girls at the gym and I am doing just fine!
Athlete Specific Q. Will you ever sing the National Anthem before the start of a WOD class?
Only if Kody and Kyle will sing with me!
