Q1. What have been your greatest successes (physically, mentally or emotionally) since you began? How does your body feel now compared to when you started and WHY?

Biggest challenge is the ever changing nature of fitness and health.  I injured my shoulder a while back and this makes you rethink what you are doing and why.  Most important question these days is what does fitness mean to me and how can I stay healthy and improving.  Overall, I’m stronger and in better overall shape, but surprisingly not as fast as I once was with running…maybe because I don’t run as much! Ha.

Q2. How has your life changed since starting CrossFit training? Has CrossFit transferred over into any other areas of your life?

I joined CrossFit not knowing what I was getting into or what I was going to get out of it.  I came to enjoy the camaraderie and the varied workouts that both work towards your strengths, and humble you with your weaknesses.  I’ve enjoyed the ability to add fitness and exercise into my life routinely and enjoy the company of a crew that is always game for sweating.

Q3. What are the advantages of CrossFit style training compared to your previous workout styles?

Varied and not focused.  Good general overall fitness.  I enjoy biking, climbing, hiking, and a lot of varied activities so this keeps me in a good overall shape for whatever I want to bite off.

Q4. What advice can you give to others?

Check your pride, listen to your body, and work on your weaknesses.  Injuries have a sneaky way of coming on slowly over time due to muscle imbalance, poor technique and trying to move too fast.  Listen to your coaches and work on the crappy form you have so that you can continue to do the things you enjoy.

Athlete Specific Q. Most might not know but youre a rocker through and through, out of the concerts you have been to thus far in 2017, what are your top 3 and why?

Metallica was just as awesome as they should be.  But hands down to Hellyeah for a “metal family” production! (plus it was AWESOME just to be there with Fred and Greg rocking out!)  Of course, one of the best shows of the year was Gorillaz, as it came as a surprise and was packed with an amazing audio and visual experience!!
