Q1. What have been your greatest successes (physically, mentally or emotionally) since you began? How does your body feel now compared to when you started and WHY?

My greatest success would probably be the way I know my body and how to listen to it. When I first started CrossFit about 8 or so years ago I did everything and anything. I wasn’t always bad but it was prideful, so learning how to push myself correctly (mentally, physically, and spiritually) through CrossFit has been a big win. I started CrossFit when I swam for SJSU. In terms of athletes it made my team and I way better swimmers and all around athletes. We also learned a lot about nutrition and correct body positions (swimmers are not good at that) which has improved every area of my life. When your body moves correctly and you fuel yourself correctly, you end up being better in all areas.

Q2. How has your life changed since starting CrossFit training? Has CrossFit transferred over into any other areas of your life?

My life has changed in terms of learning how to be vulnerable with myself and others. CrossFit reveals your weaknesses and they are not something you can mask. You have to deal with them. CrossFit has taught me a lot about myself by learning how to have grace and correction, along with rejoicing with others and encouraging others in their strengths and weaknesses.

Q3. What are the advantages of CrossFit style training compared to your previous workout styles?

Everything in CrossFit transfers over to everything else you do. For example with swimming, the same explosive movements of pushing off all wall or a start is equivalent to a box jump and squat.

Q4. What advice can you give to others?

Know your body. Listen to your body.

1) You have traveled a bit, what has been your favorite place thus far?
2) Best music to lift/workout to?

1) That’s not a fair question. Every place is different and amazing in it own way. In terms of history: Sofia, Bulgaria. Place I always go back to: Spain. Favorite scuba diving: Cozumel.
2) Scream music or Jesus music haha
