Q1. What have been your greatest successes (physically, mentally or emotionally) since you began? How does your body feel now compared to when you started and WHY?
My greatest success physically has been continuous improvement in every movement and achieving new movements such as muscle ups. Mentally I have found an activity that I enjoy where I can let my mind forget about everything else going on and just have fun. It is always relaxing to be at the gym, even though that sounds ironic. Emotionally I am always positive and happy because I appreciate what life has to offer and CrossFit has helped me be tough through hard times. I have played sports my entire life. I was a three sport athlete throughout school, but since starting CrossFit two years ago I am in the greatest physical condition I have ever been in and I continue to improve everyday!
Q2. How has your life changed since starting CrossFit training? Has CrossFit transferred over into any other areas of your life?
CrossFit has turned my life for the better. After high school I stopped playing sports and was only moderately active. CrossFit has helped me to be physically active and more motivated in everyday life. I have lost 30 pounds, lifted more weight than I ever have before, and am eating better to lead a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life.
Q3. What are the advantages of CrossFit style training compared to your previous workout styles?
I never really liked weight lifting. I have always been able to run for distance but to me it gets boring so CrossFit ended up being the perfect fit for me because I enjoy the continuous movement paired with lifting. This style of workout tones the body while still working on muscle development which I like so I don’t look like those guys that skip leg day or a marathon runner that looks like they could be carried away by a gentle breeze.
Q4. What advice can you give to others?
The only advice I can give is what I tell myself, keep pushing through any obstacle. “You cannot feel into action, you have to act into feeling.” Don’t wait for the right moment to come along, create those moments under your own power.
Athlete Specific Q.
1) What is the best music to “Bust a move” too, as you have some pretty sweet dance moves?
2) With the name Brodderic aka Brody, (FYI Coach Kody has always said his first-born son’s name will be either Brody or Bodhi) I can’t help but want to call you Bromigo, Brotato chip, Brorannasaurs Rex, Brobo Cop, Mighty Bro Young, etc. do you have a favorite?
1) I will dance to anything, but if I choose the best it would be hits from the 90s and early 2000s. Dynamite by Taio Cruz for example.
2) I can’t pick a favorite when it comes to nicknames! I love the different things people can come up with, especially since the beginning of my name is Bro. I have been called Brodderama, Tom Brody, The Brody Bunch, Bro Morino, and so much more.
